Ok guys heres my situation my graphics card on my secondary gaming rig just crapped out, so I need find a new hopefully cheap replacment for it.
My secoundary system
x800xl(old card that craped out.)
amd 64 3500+ 939 cpu 2.1Ghz (single core)
2gb ddrpc3200 ram(ddr1)
120 gb hdd
epox mobo cant remeber the name but it's was a great mobo in it's day.
500w powersupply
Ok so heres the thing I've got my primary pc I want to up grade, so what I was thinking was my 8600gt and pluging it into my old comp. However I would be need to be buying an even more0 expensive video card for my new comp.
btw my new comp
8600gt
amd 2.3Ghz quad core
4gb ram
1tb hd
god I can't remeber the mobo I just replaced my cmos battery too.
750w powersupply
But if I put the 8600 in my old pc my cpu is going too bottle neck it bad.
This may be stupid, but are you sure the secondary computer has the same slot as the 8600gt? If one is AGP and the other is PCIe you are done contemplating this.
As to the question of bottlenecks, yes it will. How much, I don't know. It should still be OK, but you won't be running a really demanding game very well on it.
