I was looking to upgrade my x1950pro to a PowerColor HD 4670 PCS Edition 1GB DDR3 but i have heard about compatibility issues running direct x10 gpu on win xp pro (directx 9) i know im not going to get the visual quality of directx 10, im more bothered about frame rate and speed + running games in high detail without slowing right down

You heard wrong. You won't be able to run games in DirectX 10, that's it.

of course you cant! I'm talking about a video card designed for dx10 running under windows xp utilising direct x9 (backward compatibility issues) i want to run games with with direct x9

there is another thread from u, on the same topic, and as already stated there is no probs.

in fact this is what was put:-

===============================================
there is no compatibility probs, they are backwards compatible.

u should have better framerates than in dx10 as the card hasnt got so much overlaying of HD layers and shaders.

it will do the same as most older dx9 games when they are boosted from high graphics down to medium.

lower graphics settings = higher framerates

===============================================

that is basicly what dx10 is, another higher setting in the game.

yes but would i get higher frame rates with higher detail with the HD 4670 PCS over the x1950pro in direct x9 games, would the increase in performance be worth the outlay?
