Ive shown the topic about AMD & that ati stream thing to him.
Now, he wants to buy a laptop to watch movies and stuff wich has a build in mobility hd 3650.

He's curious if those drivers support that chip aswell.

Is there any list that shows what cards & chips are supported or anything.
Or maybe some of you know by experience?

he'd verry much appreciate an answer to this.

Mobilities are an unknown, unless things have changed it is up to the laptop manufacturers to support them, not ati.

Hopefully i am wrong because if not you could be at the mercy of the laptop maker and that can be dodgy at best.

First of all who is this 'he / him' ?

Second, it depends on what platform he's going to be working on and to do what?

Right now it's driver limited only in the Vista realm, and considering that they've announced support for the V5700 series then it may include the HD3650 series as well, which is what the mobility equivalent is. IMO, it will be limited to the HD3K series due to the DP divide between 2K & 3K.

But the thing is this initial announcement is for those who primarily already deal with Brook+ or CAL aware apps, it's not about random plug-ins.

The Avivo converter will be something that intergrates itself into the driver and the 'stream' component will go unnoticed.

Biggest issue about current laptops, is somewhat like SS said, that Vista drivers comes from the laptop OEM not ATi, you can only get raw drivers for XP, so if you are buying a current laptop, be sure you can roll it back or have it come with XP from the start, because otherwise you rely on the OEM or on using the driver mod tool to try and make it work for your laptop, and if you're not savvy, it's a bit tricky.

And even then the laptop cards don't always have all of the features of the desktop cards. So 'he' may be waiting beyond release 8.12 for support.
