Windows question

I started my new build the other day. I have finished everything now, and have successfully got it to switch on, and have set the values in the bios.

However, I still do not have a new copy of Vista. I have the retail disc from another system. Could I use that to install Windows now on my new build, and then activate it later when I get the new disc and license? I hope so, I wanna try out my first successful build!

If you have a retail disc I think it should be ok worst case scenario you might have to call MS to activate it again but you should be able to transfer it over. You might want to tell them that you just swapped a motherboard out or got a new processor though instead of built a new pc just in case they try to scam you into buying another copy!!
