This is going to be my first time building a comp. I will probably need every part execpt monitor, mouse, and keyboard. I am probably going to be playing games and working. The games include CoD4, crysis warhead and diablo 3 when it comes out =(. Id like a quad core and a tv tuner if its under 50$. My entire budget is about 800. Can go over if good deals by like 50.

thanks

Oh yah, newegg links please =)

be patient, there are plenty of us that enjoy doing this stuff regardless of your effort. The only delay will be when people have time.

BTW, telling us what you want to do, parts you can re-use and your budget are the most important items. Last thing, we don't care what you found we want you to use what we pick. ;)

I dunno, read the forums, read some mags (pcgamer/maxpc)... look through newegg, look through the articles on this website...

I know nothing about current gen PC hardware and yet I was able to come up with a build... look for the "help me throw away my XBOX360" thread right above yours...

All i'm saying is I doubt you will get any help by just posting a "make me a computer that can do X for X amount"...

i love ignorant people.

read forums and you will learn pc parts.

thats what I did :p at the end I posted a component list to make last check with other users....not to ask to make entire list...

first off, what is your budget?

as for compatability, the giga mobo needs an amd processor like a phenom 9950 Be. its the same price as a q6600. the phenom is not as good a overclocker as the q6600.

i would also avoid vista basic, you can get vista home premium 64 for about $100.

Hi elmooncrack

I see you have seven parts so far ... just need a sound card, hard drive and a dvd writer if you'd like.

I'm currently building my first computer as well and found the case or tower consists of nine components including the chassis/case/tower ... whatever you call it :)

As for operating system ... vista home premium is about the best. Either that or Windows XP Media Centre Edition =D

I did find that a core 2 duo processor will run cooler than a core 2 quad ... so if you, elmooncrack, are not going to be doing any high end stuff that often like editing movies or utilizing music software or something like that you will only ever be using about half you quad core processor. So it will be pretty much a waste.

Rather go for a core 2 duo processor which will not heat up as much as a quad core will. It also has a higher or faster clock speed than a quad core, ie. it has a higher GHz rating :)

You can actually build a pretty good computer for $800. Check this out:

The E8400 is almost a must have upgrade. It is an awesome processor! It runs cool and is very efficient. Also if you plan to overclock this thing is rock solid. I would recommend you get the E8400 intel. (its my first intel, i have always been an amd guy but i love this thing!)
