I would like to swap the motherboard for one that supports both DDR2-800 and some DDR3 so that I'm a bit future proof, keep in mind I still would like a motherboard with a BIOS thats easy with overclocking hardware. It would also need to accomodate the hardware listed in this months build:
CPU Intel Pentium E5200 2.5 GHz $83
RAM G.Skill HK 4 GB DDR2-800 (PC2 6400) $45
Graphics Sapphire 100259L Radeon HD 4870 512 MB $200
Forget the DDR3 support, as your lga775 system wont benefit from it now or in the future. And personally I stay away from "hybrid" solutions. If youre a gamer and want to make your system a bit future-proof than look for a board with crossfire support, something like EP45-UD3P, so in some time you can throw in another 4870 plus some faster CPU, and THAT will make a whole new system.
