GTX 260

Best bang for the buck at the moment. With your CPU I wouldn't go higher and with your resolution I wouldn't go lower.

yea that was my first choice. i was also comparing it with the 9800GX2 for Tigerdirect-$300 and the 9800GTX+ about $170

The gtx260 would be the best way to go. You budget for a graphic card is 300$ + 160 for the psu = 460$. i would personally buy 2 gtx260 since there available for 189.99$ each =380$ and use the 80$ for a good quality 600w-700w.

no the 9800GX2 is not the way to go...

your 300 price tag and nvidia all point to the GTX260

make sure to get the Core 216 model they are about 10%faster for a few bucks more

Any temperature issues with the GX2? I had a 7950 GX2, and the top card was always running hot.

the 216 260 GTX, is a load of squirrel turds. Its like 1-3% faster than the reg. Sometimes you can't see a difference. Most I've seen it was 1-5 frames faster (and I'm being generous, ofc there are exceptions to every rule). Grab an old 260 GTX since they are around 200$ now, and oc it. Since it can oc higher than the 216 Core, you can make up that 1-3% and some:)

Should be around 70C load. Results from last person who got it:

Two identical cards running at different temperatures may have to do with case airflow deadspots.
