Well basically HD is 1920x1080 (or 1200, cant remember).....Basically you won't get the full benefit of the pure HD. Yes you will still be able to play it just gets squished down to 1680x1050, but still watchable none of the less.

24" monitors are insane still for price but slowly getting there but they play pure HD :p

Im just lucky mum randomly bought a 40 inch TV X'D

HD starts at 720p and your monitor will handle well above that (with some minor scaling issues), what you can't quite get is 1080p but 1080p on a 22" monitor would look just like 720p for all practical purposes anyway, (1080p really only shines on big screens and even then the difference is subtle) - but yes, you will get real HD and Blu-ray should look fantastic. The term 'full HD' is a bit of a misnomer. HD is a defined standard starting at 720p (and 1080i), it is not the ultimate in HD but it is true HD nonetheless.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 220wm flat panel display a Plextor optical drive and an 8600GT video card. I got curious and popped in a movie dvd. The results are acceptable. I have not tried blue-ray yet because my home theater system is not equipped with a blue-ray player. That's going to be a Christmas present.
