Hi guys, I'm building a gaming computer and have settled on the 955BE as my choice of cpu. I am now looking at a suitable mobo to match it, and provide some overclocking potential. I'm not talking "extreme" overclock, but would be interested in playing around with it to see what I can get and still stay reliable.
I live in New Zealand, so we don't have the best range at the best prices, unfortunately. For a 790 chipset I am looking at another $60-70, which is kinda hard to justify. Is it really required to get anything decent out of a 955BE? www.pricespy.co.nz is what I have to go by.
What I have looked at so far -
Asus M4A785TD-V EVO
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
CPU: Phenom II X4 955BE
PSU: Antec Neo Eco 620C 620W (might change this for something smaller)
RAM: Still unsure on specifics, but 2x2gb DDR3
Case: Antec 900 2
GPU: Radeon HD4850
Heatsink: Any suggestions? Or would stock be ok? If I need one, what's a good budget conscious one?
Thanks for the suggestions, but yes, those are a little out of budget
Our budget is more in the range of $150-170 NZD. It's kinda hard to say what that is in US$ since I have seen some boards on newegg for quite cheap, but here, not so. In general, a 790 will cost around $70 extra, so if I can get away with a lesser chipset then it would be preferable.
We won't be doing a huge overclock, just something for fun. Does anyone know what kind of results we'd get with the 2 boards we came up with?
