Hey all, a little while back i posted a thread asking for suggestions for my new budget gaming rig. I ended up with about 1000 in components. Now this week it's finally time to order the parts, and I was just going to ask you all to take a look at it and let me know if there have been any price drops in comparable components over the past few months. Here are the specs.

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131299
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037
Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227267
HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218

As you can see there is no GPU because newegg has been out of stock on the 4870 for quite a while now, so any suggestions on a new card or any other suggestions when it comes to these parts listed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

You can run at 1680x1050 with the 4850 with about 30fps w/no AA on Crysis. So medium settings should be fine. If you can afford the 4870, I'd get it, because it'll perform much better for a bit longer than the 4850. The 4850 is a good card for the $, so that is why it is recommended.
Anand's review of the 4850/4870. Look at the charts to see how things stack up.

You didn't mention the Case/PSU combo that your going to use with this setup??? What are you proposing for it??
I'd recommend the Antec 300 w/the Corsair 650tx as the minimum for this price range. The Antec is going for about $52 and the Corsair 650tx is going for about $73 after $20 MIR. Both are at Buy.com, which is much cheaper than Newegg right now.
Antec Three Hundred ATX Computer Case
Corsair TX CMPSU-650TX ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply

Also don't forget, you could get the e8500 w/a p45 Gigabyte mobo for $307 - $20 MIR = $287!!
4th combo from the bottom!!
Here's the mobo combo'd with the e8500.

first off, thank you very much for the mobo/cpu combo tip, I'll be doing that now. The only thing that makes me hesitate is that that mobo doesn't specify crossfire, and I like the idea of being able to throw a second 4870 in there later on down the line. But I'm probably reading that all wrong. The case/PSU was also very helpful, I will be going with those. Thanks again.

Yes it does support X-fire. I got the information from the product website:

2 PCI-E 2.0 x16 graphic interface with CrossFireX support for ultimate graphics performance

Gigabyte's mobo website for the GA-EP45-UD3P

P.S.
There is more info about the X-fire on the website:
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8
(The PCIEx16 and PCIEx8 slots support ATI CrossFireX technology and conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
