I7 920 Is Only Running At 1.6 Ghz

OK, having a $h*t right attack now. Yesterday, I was able to complete authoring a DVD by encoding a700 Mb avi using Nero. It only took 14 minutes which is almost 4 times faster than my athlon x2 6000+. Today I repeated to same job but now it's almost as slow as my athlon. It took 47 minutes. I checked the CPU speed and it's only running at 1.6 Ghz. I did not do any overclocking and I did not touch the bios.

Really have no idea what caused this.

My guesses would either be SpeedStep (the i7 920 supposedly idles around 1.6 GHz) or you are overheating and throttling back. Check your temps.
