I am thinking of buying a ASUS ATI Radeon 4850 512MB or 1GB graphics card.I have seen some benchmarks of this card.In almost all of the benchmarks test they tested with 2GB ram.I have heard that anti-aliasing takes a lot of ram to work smoothly. This graphics card's minimum requirement is 1GB ram.My question is if get 6GB or 8GB ram and enable every setting to max except anti-aliasing to 6x in the games will I get smooth speed or do I need more ram?

When referring to AA on graphics card you are talking about the installed ram on the card not the system ram. It is not until higher resolutions that you benefit from more than 512MB for example 1920 x 1080.
On system ram it is recommended to have 2gb for XP and 4gb for vista.

So wil I get smooth speed with every setting to max and anti-aliasing to 4x or 6x?

In most games yes.
