Hi, I am building a system for gaming, & I have decided on a Radeon 4850 videocard.
My monitor is a 19 inch widescreen LCD with a native resolution of 1440 x 900 with plans to move up to a 22 inch monitor next year.
My favorite games are: Crysis, Virtual Tennis, Need for Speed Prostreet, Madden 08, Devil May Cry 4, & Command & Conquer 3.

I haven't decided if I go for intel C2Duo or AMD X2, but I won't go for SLI or Crossfire. I am not into overclocking processors or videocard either. What are your suggestions (chipset & processor)? Thanks.

also i'd get a e8400 for around 150 $... that may be a bit expensive for you, if so then get an e7200

also i'd recommend overclocking.... you can get a pretty decent overclock on stock EVERYTHING including heatsink... on an e8400 you can generally go from 3 ghz to like 3.5 - 3.6 ghz and on an e7200 you can go to 3 ghz

thanks
How does p43/p45 chipset compare to 780g/790g?
On using a ATI videocard on a non-ATI motherboard: Will there be any problems in the future?

Not sure what you mean by non-ATI motherboard. You do not need to match chipsets vendors with video cards. The best crossfire chipset, for instance, is the Intel x48.

AMD dual cores can't compete with Intel currently. They simply aren't in the same ballpark.

Both the boards linked for you are good. I also like the P5QL-E. You can see links to all my favorite parts and more here:
