Hi all.
Take a look at this:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/char [...] 1,747.html
According to that, in crysis, a £400 280GTX only runs crysis, the beast of graphical benchmarks, 2FPS faster than a £150 8800GTSOC.

What the hell? Is the 280GTX just an overprice, overhyped peice of rubbish, or are those benchmarks spoofs?

The 280 GTX is overpriced i admit but definatly not rubbish.. although i cant say i own one. from what i seem to be noticing is that most are unimpressed with the newer nvidia cards because they dont seem to really AMAZE anyone in benchmarks.. But in my opinion i beilive its simpily because they are new. Some are convinced that this simpily isnt possible since these cards are a whole 1 YEAR OLD. I beg to differ. 1 year is still not enough patches will improve, cards will improve. Im convinced that a similar story is for the 280 gtx

Those benchmarks may as well be spoofs. A GTX 280 is significantly faster than an 8800GTS, in Crysis or any other game (with the exception of FlightSimX which is CPU-bound).

Tomshardware gpu charts are just plain bad. You should see others.

The Crysis engine looks great, but really sucks. Don't blame the cards too much.

if your going to look at benchmark for a high end card, please look at high res and AA on. Otherwise I'm just going to slam my head on the desk and move along.

If you think Crysis is maxed out without AA, that's not true, not even at the 1280x1024 resolution shown. That Tomshardware chart is just bad. Too much cpu bottlenecking. See this chart for 1280x1024 no AA:

toms uses the old X6800 that prc doesnt have enough juice to drive a GTX 280 to its max
