Providing that everything else matches [eg; socket type] can a CPU with a FSB of 2000MHz work on a Mobo with a 2600MHz FSB?

are you talking intel or amd?

Intel is Quad pumed so here is a Exp.

Socket 775 200FSB x4 =800
Socket 775 266FSB x4 =1066
Socket 775 333FSB x4 = 1333
Socket 775 400FSB x4 = 1600

i dont know how amds HT works right off hand. i have been playing with more intel systems then amd's. and no i am not a fanboy :D

Thx for your reply, I am on a learning curve so I might not always ask the correct question or give the right amout of data. I am talking about AMD socket AM2/AM2+ mobo's and I'm trying to learn about matching components to build my first PC. I do not understand the defintion of "fanboy".

truth be told i just say because i am not. i dont know the total meaning of it. but i know people like calling each other fanboys.

i know if your mobo has a 2600HT bus. and your cpu has a 2000HT bus. then i would image it would work.

here is a wiki website for the Amd HT

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HyperTransport

if you need more info am sure i can find it on google :D
