Guys help me choose which one is better or they pretty same. i checked performance seems like not much but little E8500 is faster, but E8400 is 25$ cheaper. Maybe i am missing something, tell me which to buy..
If you set your mobo to run at 400MHz, then the E8400 will be at 3.6GHz while the E8500 will be at 3.8GHz. Most serious overclockers seem to run their mobo's at beyond 400, but you can set it to 400 and know that you aren't exceeding the rated speed of 800MHz Ram, etc. I don't think anybody can tell you if one will ultimately run faster than the other, but it might be easier to reach the limit with the E8500. There is some luck involved too, you might end up with a "good" E8400 that will beat the E8500.
i got my E8500 at 4.3 comfortably at the very vcore limit. as i have said in prior posts, im SURE you can hit that with an 8400 as well. up to you man, if you are ONLY getting a cpu, i would recommend an 8500 if you are also going to get a video card then save the $25 and put it into a gpu.
