Tom's did a test of GPU's recently, and used an 850W PSU to run an overclock i7 with two GTX295. I am really confused about this as lots of people are recommending only a 1000W PSU for such a set up. I know that a lot depends on the 12v rails, but I read on NCIX that a single 295 needs at least 46A in the 12v rail. Also, just basic stuff, when you have to connect a GFX card do you have to use both the 8 pin and the 6 pin connector? So does that allow you to add two sets of 12v amps? Need some help please! Would appreciate any comments and CHEAP PSU recommendations (I was hoping to use the Corsair 850...)Thanks :D

The card doesn't need 46 amps by itself, that's the "system power" recommendation.
You read the review, it also states that the max power consumed was about 600 watts from the wall. At 80% efficiency that's less than a 500 watt load on the psu. There's not much need for a 1000 watt psu, unless your running a dozen hard drives and a laser light show.
The single rail ( 70 amps ) Corsair 850 is an excellent choice.
