I have a new system and we installed Vista 64-bit version. This is my first time witht the 64-bit and I was wondering why there is a Program Files and Program Files (x86) folder on the C drive?

What's the reason for this?
Do I need both folder?

Thx

Yes you need both folders. Non native 64-bit programs will be installed in the x86 folder while 64-bit programs will be in the regular Program Files folder. The OS takes care of it for you, no need to stress.

windows x64 installs non 64-bit programs into a separate folder. no big deal.
