Have a Asus P5Q-EM DO a Q45 uATX board. Currently have a E4500 OCD to 2.65ghz to be replaced by a Q9XXX cpu, and a 9800gtx+ video card. I would like to max out the memory b/c I want to fill all the slots. My questions are:

Is it worth getting 4GB unbuffered non-ECC dimms?

If I got PC8500 would it clock down if my board only 800mhz and 667mhz memory, local computer store has Aeneon AXT860UD20-19E-K-4G 1066Mhz 4GB Kit for $69 CDN, have never heard of that brand. Here I'm thinking I can use this memory on when I upgrade again if DDR2 is still good enough.

For me the difference btw PC6400 and PC8500 are pretty equal. The idea of bragging about 16GB of RAM is very appealing to me even if I only use a quarter of it.

I will be gaming and encoding video off a HD camcorder using corel VideoStudio Pro X2

The are no 16 GB kits on the QVL. I recommend that you go with G.Skill PI Black DDR2 800 MHz: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231209&Tpk=pi%20black%20800. The PI Black requires less voltage than the F2-6400CL4D-4GBPK kit that's on the QVL.

You won't be able to brag about having 16 GB, but you'll have a stable system that runs 8 GB of memory at 4-4-4-12 timings and 1.8-1.9V.
