I have installed lastest bios and gpu drivers. For the past 6 months I have upgraded new memory and a new gpu but still my system locks up always during games and whenever it feels like it.
i believe this guy had the same exact problem and he fixed it. But I am good with computers but Im not really that smart on this stuff when it comes to messing with voltages. Can someone please help me get my computer stable.
Cons: Took 9 months of reading, testing, trying every conceivable pattern of voltages and settings to make this thing work. Came as close as imaginable to taking a hammer to this motherboard countless times when i found Patriot memory for the 790i chipset last month. Thought I made a break through...first time i could EVER remember going 2 whole days without a lockup or freeze...mostly within 30 seconds of boot up. But back to freezing, again! Then late one night, I found one more forum about this board. Guy said put all voltages to auto except memory (which I knew) and up the CPU volts...tried that before, just never gave enough for my o.c. At 3.8 my e8500 needs 1.38, at 4.0 it needs 1.4...hasn't froze or locked up once in the last week!!! I'm still on the 0402 bios (couldn't get flash to work) That's all it needs, enough volts for the cpu and Patriot Viper memory..saved some money not "upgrading" to I7 yet! With 2 Evga 280's I get 24,400 in Vantage clocked to 670, stable(FINALLY!!!!!!!!!)
