Raid 1 is with two drives, and they mirror each others data, raid 5 is a setup requiring 3 or more drives with striped, meaning the total capacity is the drive sizes totalled together

RAID 5 - Total capacity = (number of drives - 1) X capacity of drives.

A RAID 5 array of four 1 TB drives has a storage capacity of 3 TB.
