I am RMA-ing a MB and CPU back to newegg. What is the best way to clean MX-2 off of the CPU (i7 920, if that matters)? I would like to send it back as clean as possible, though it is for replacement and not refund (not sure if that matters either - I have never had to do an RMA before).

Thanks.

A squirt of citrus juice (lemon or lime) in some water does the trick. You can buy special cleaner but look at the ingredients and you'll find it's basically just diluted citric acid.

Just scrape off as much as you can with something like the edge of a 3x5 index card, then clean off the remaining stuff with a paper towel and anhydrous isopropyl alcohol (from your supermarket or pharmacy).
