Hey everyone!
I had posted here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/257004-31-plan-ordering-days-suggestions And everything turned out well! It all went together fairly smoothly and all is well so far! Had to fight the mass of PSU cables into place. The motherboard recognized the CPU and everything else instantly. I had removed all the heatsinks on the mobo and scrubbed off the crummy thermal compound that Gigabyte had put. Then I applied some Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease to it and replaced them. I also rubbed off the compound on the CPU cooler and used Arctic Silver on it as well. I removed the cooler off the HD 4850 and removed the previous compound off of it and put Arctic Silver on it too. All the thermal grease stuff that Gigabyte had on it was all hard and crusty. Everything else plugged right in and worked. I'm typing this on the computer now. I also invested into an HP w2007 monitor $280 (20'' 1680x1050). But It's worth getting a nice screen.
Here is the final build:
CPU- Core 2 E7200- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115052
Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128359&Tpk=GA-EP45-UD3R
Ram- Mushkin 2GB (2x1GB)- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146118
Hard Drive- Western Digital 640Gig- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218
Optical Drive- Asus- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135156
Video Card- Gigabyte HD4850- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125238
PSU- Antec 650W- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015
I haven't really tested the components yet though. I intend on running a CPU and Ram stress test overnight tonight. What are the best burn in stress test tools?
I think I'll install Oblivion this afternoon and see how well it plays
Thanks!
