Best Performance/Watts card?

Forum Graphics & Displays : Graphics Cards Best Performance/Watts card?

I'm looking for a card in the $70-$120 range and I wanted to know which card offers the most performance out of each watt it consumes. The Radeon 4670 seems like a good performance/watts card but beyond this card, I have very little knowledge of other graphics cards power consumption. I wanted the 8800gt but then I saw it consumes 152watts at idle, nearly a 100watt power difference. Is it worth missing out on the performance gains of a 8800gt at the cost of power consumption? Are there better options other than the two mentioned cards?

The most graphics intensive game I play right now is Need for Speed/COD4/Team Fortress/CS:S at relatively low res (1280x1024)

where did you get the wattage numbers from?

i would recommend 9600GT/9600GSO/HD4650/HD4670

It all depends if the wattage was used by the same computer or not. If its 2 different rigs, youll have vast differences in power usage. Remember thats total system power being used, as I think the GT uses around 100-110 watts at full load
