Hello, I have a question about the compatibility of RAID in different AMD chipsets.
My 690G (Biostar TA690G AM2) motherboard seems to have died and I was using 2 500GB hard drives in RAID 0. I back up the important files regularly so it's not a disaster, but I'd like to know if I could use another AMD motherboard with RAID support to see the data in the drives again.
Basically the question is, are 780G / 790GX and 690G RAIDs compatible. I am assuming I can get 690G board from a different manufacturer to see the files since they share the driver. Anyone has any experience with it?
With the same exact chipset, there's a good chance it'll work; with related chipsets, it might work, too. This type of situation is why many experts recommend using a plug-in drive controller board, as you can then just move the controller board & drives into the new system and be ready to go.
