EMailer for Windows 7

Hi, I have just bought a SONY VIAO note book and find that i have none of the esentials, ie web browser, eMailer (though now trying 'Incredimail') and whatever bits that made my family so Microsoft dependent. Ideally I want the most relyable open source eqivalent.
This may seem like asking for the imposoble but being unemployed I regret that I cannot afford Microsoft anymore.

IE should already be installed, but you can get google's chrome browser or mozilla's firefox browser for free.

If you don't like OpenOffice, you can try LibreOffice.
