How much should it cost to replace the motherboard in a HP (I believe it is a 9500. It has the 17" screen, 2 hard drives, DVD, etc.)

A new motherboard would cost $60 - $120 depending what your processor is, if you're getting the same HP motherboard or an aftermarket board. Uninstall, reinstall all components and if needed (probably will) reload windows, drivers, updates etc.. a repair reload may work. I can't see a commercial shop doing it for under $200 + motherboard. That's my guesstimate.
