hey there, i am thinking of buying Palit HD 3870 512mb gddr3. I got a good deal, CAD$90...and its a brand new, so what do u guys think?. Should i step up and buy it or wait for graphic cards to get more price cuts?...and is there any near date price cuts for graphic card

i will be using this card to play GTA-4, NFS Undercover, Left 4 Dead... i'll be buying a XBOX controller for windows too, for full game enjoyment :)

With the games you've listed it really depends on what resolution you're playing it.

Because L4D is based on HL2 engine 3870 should be fine with it. GTA4 will be more or less a console port (I'm expecting) although they did mention special content for PC but I doubt they will program from scratch so that should be fine too. I'm not sure about NFS undercover though.

It looks like a good deal so I think I would get it if I were you unless you're willing to spend a bit more for graphics.

i have a 1680x1050...22inch monitor...undercover really looks nice, i mean the graphic looks pretty awesome. and yeah what would you choose if u had budget under 100$?...I just can't spend 399$ on ps3, so that's why i want to make my comp look like a whole game console thingy...

I doubt the 3870 could perform above 1280x1024 for those games, especially GTA IV. It has a shot at LFD, as source games arent that graphically demanding, but the card itself is getting on...

Either the 3870X2 or the 4850/4870 would be better buys at this point.

dude 4000 series itself cost a lot lately, like i can buy a 3850 or 3870 in the same price as of 4670...and yeah BTW i after all bought that palit 3870 card, but the cons as i read are like "its perfect if you are deaf" :p...it means its lil noisy card, but its nice like 90$ for 3870..cool
