In the light of the latest price drop on C2Q I started to wonder if I should upgrade my gaming rig.
Currently I have Q6600 running @ 3.6 GHz (450x8) on GA-P35-DS3R and 4 GB RAM (Video side is GTX280 on 24'' display).
So the question are: should I upgrade:
- the motherboard (get rid of the PCIe 1.1 to avoid possible future bottlenecks) to P45 based (I like GA-P45-UD3P)?
- the CPU to Q9650 (again, I'll try to overclock as much as possible)?
- both, motherboard & CPU? But the issue here would be, if I upgrade both, isn't it better just to go for i7 and have better support on multi-GPU and overall performance? kind of future-proof?
Thanks in advance.
