Hay Guys.

Win 7 64.

OK, last night I got a good OC, Q9650 3.9GHz.

Last night I did Intel burn,Sandra, and Performance test.

Last nights Results.

Intel Burn = 51.7 Gflops.

Sandra = 52.4 Gflops.

Performance Test CPU = 6461

Ok, I played around a bit and went to bed, shutting down my PC.

Today, I played around a bit and then put it in Standby.

Then just now I did the tests again, because I was having this strange problem before.

Intel Burn = 35 Gflops.

Sandra = 35 Gflops.

Performance Test CPU = 5456

Whats going on?

I thought it was Sandra at first but I checked Intel Burn and got the same thing?

I have Speed step off, it's locked at 3.9GHz.

Any Ideas?

OK, I solved it, kinda.

I restarted Tried 52.6 Gflops, I restarted Tried 52.6 Gflops, ,Shut down waited 1 min, Tried 52.6 Gflops.

Then I put it in Standby tried 35.2 Gflops.

Standby is Screwing with something.

Any Ideas?

It was a Joke.

I hope that's not how you treat everything, Just don't use it.

I was looking for someone who knew Why this was happening, Not just to say, Don't use it,That's Obviously an Easy way out.

Old vaudeville shtick:
"Doctor, doctor, my hand hurts when I do this."
"Don't do that."

Sometimes you just can't help yourself.

OK.

The 52.4 GFlops/35 GFlops ratio would seem to indicate, that regardless of your BIOS settings, SpeedStep is kicking in. It looks like Standby is overriding your BIOS settings.

I don't know. All I can say is that observed performance matches the theoretical clock ratios.

This type of problem seems to happen occasionally. Someone will post something like "It looks like SpeedStep is on, but when I check my BIOS, it's turned off. What's going on."

Hay!

Thanks.

But, Hay, If you don't know you don't know, Right?

Thank you for trying.

I did Not find out why it does that, But I think your Right about it, I asked my Pro Bro , (He's 2,000 miles away) So I called him and he had a long answer about how M$ makes OS's not Hardware ect, So They may look over such things and get hang ups ect, Kinda like how one OS "Win 7 " Might be less Stable at OC'ing then XP, For Example, Not saying it is, It's actually Pretty Stable, But as an Example.

so Who knows.

He Confirmed that that's what it sounded like, was the Multi. (Speed Step) Getting Stuck at 6x .

Have No Idea, cause I sold My E8400 already so I can't test it on there.

Oh well, Probably just not all the Kinks worked out of Win 7 yet.

Thanks ! I'll Vote You as Best Answer, Since your Right. :hello:

Later!
