Hey guys,

This past weekend i just finished putting together my very first build.

Mobo - Evga 750i FTW

CPU - Q9550 / with zalman cooler

Ram - 2gb Corsair (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145043)

PSU - tx750 corsair

GPU - gtx 260(216 cores)

_____________

Now everything works very well but when i boot up the comp and look in bios i see that my ram is set at 800mhz. It should be at 1066mhz. What can i possibly do to change that? I tried a few searches on google and im not a 100% sure what i need to do. Can anyone please help me?

Since your CPU runs at a front side bus frequency of 333Mhz, your memory only needs to run at 667Mhz. Anything beyond that is very minor and not worth worrying too much about.

I do not know your BIOS, but you likely have a setting called FSB: DRAM ratio or some such.... or DRAM frequency multiplier.

The only real reason for you to have that 1066 RAM is to overclock beyond a FSB of 400... and I doubt you will do that. So don't worry about it. If it's working well now, leave it alone.

It will not be noticeably faster by running it at 1066.

Welcome to the forums!

You should set the proper memory voltage if you have not already done so.
Set the memory "multiplier" manually in the bios so you get 1066 as memory speed. Can't tell you exactly what it should be at work.

In your BIOS, set the memory voltage manually to the rated voltage, 2.1v or 2.2v depending on which version you have.

As for the RAM speed, you can try using UNLINKED mode, and manually set the memory speed to 1066mhz.
