Been having some serious issues with two routers now and haven't a clue what to do -- I know absolutely nothing about networking and routers.

Was using an old SMC Barricade router to connect my computer and another to our ADSL moden (D-Link DSL-300G Generation II). Its worked for about the past.. 5-6+ years, no problem. Overnight something happened as we lost internet, but all the light indicators showed as good. On a whim I plugged my ethernet cable from my computer directly into the modem and I could get online with zero problems, but if I tried going through the router I couldn't.

Thought it was the router, so I went out and bought a new (ish?) D-Link EBR-2310 and used the Quick Router Setup CD that came with it and installed the router as per the instructions; however once it reached the point of trying to verify the connection after I was connected through the router it couldn't connect to the internet and the setup failed. Tried all the steps included on the manual and wizard (power cycling and so forth), but it just wouldn't work.

Tried connecting to the router through my computer (ip address for the router defaults to 192.168.0.1) but I can't connect to try and manually set it up.

I've checked and re-checked all connections and the indicator lights on my modem that are lit (green) are for power, status, DSL and Ethernet (status light is blinking, but green). On my router the power and 1st hub light are lit as they should be.

I'm at a total loss as to how to fix it so I can connect both computers to the internet through this router; as is I can only connect one to the internet by plugging it directly into the modem. I don't really know how any of this stuff works to figure it out myself.

My computer is set to retrieve an IP address automatically (one doesn't seem to be specified in the options), and my computer is using Windows XP, and my NIC is integrated with my motherboard and is up-to-date with drivers, if that is of any importance.

I appreciate any help you all could give me; thanks!
