I'm curious if my PSU would run two 4870x2 in crossfire. Currently I'm using a 750W corsair PSU. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006

The majority of what I have read says I will probably need an 850w psu or up. I just figured I'd ask the experts here first. The chances of me getting another one are limited by if I need to upgrade my PSU.

System specs: Q9550 stock, wdvr150gb, maxtor 300gb, asus rampage formula mobo, diamond 4870x2 GPU, 8gb patriot ram 1066mhz, 2x cd/dvd drives, corsair 750w psu.

Thanks in advance, as always, for the help!

I would say it would be tight.
Your PSU is good and can handle a nearly full load, but I would feel better with more power.

850w should do it, but you may be better off just waiting until ATI ships a new card more powerful than the 4870x2, then selling your current card and upgrading to the next card coming out.

775 W under load

I looked around for details about how the Corsair HX750 handled current over 100% of it's rated spec., but I didn't notice anything information.

Recall that the PSU should handle 750W continuous, and the machine used above probably outdraws your machine unless you have a lot running. It's certainly going to be tight; Corsair sells good units, though. Of course, given the pricetag on a 4870X2, it's probably worth spending the extra on a beefier PSU if you choose to buy a second one.

On a side note, is performance lacking? Do you need the additional performance?
