Sapphire 5850 not OC well

Hey all I got a sapphire 5850 and i can only overclock it to 771 Core and 1124 memory, if i increase it any more useing MSI afterburner it just goes back to one of the 2 above values, any ideas?

Check your temperatures with HWMonitor ( www.cpuid.com ). It might be that your card is overheating, and Afterburner is just protecting you from damaging your card.

It is probably your bios. Try flashing it to asus or msi. They are much better overclockers.

My guess is that you haven't enabled unofficial overclocking in afterburner and that's why it won't go above those values. I've managed to get my sapphire 5850 up to about 850 core clock and 1220 mem. clock on afterburner w/o overvolting and I can push it to 870 and 1225 for a little while (Crysis, max, 60 FPS), but I think that you could get even better values with a bios tool. FYI, if it is the unofficial OC'ing that is holding you back, don't forget to modify the fan speed to keep your GPU cool before you start burning the proverbial tarmac.
