Hi everyone i want to upgrade my COMPAQ PRESARIO SR5060IL i am getting ati radeon 4870 graphic card upgrade and memory upgrade to 4GB but wen i saw in my compaq site its says my comp supports max 2GB here is the link:

Thanx is it possible to upgrade my ram to 4 GB even if my max is just 2 GB?

2 GB is your limit
the mobo can only recognize 1 GB per each slot it seems

If you have a 32 bit Operating System (their all 32 bit unless indicated otherwise with a "x64" after the name) then you can only have a little over 3 GB of RAM anyway

thanx man but will that affect my gaming performace like i am an extreme gamer and i dont like lags and bad graphics so i am upgrading my pc with Ati Radeon 4870 and ram i want help plz tell me maximum ram i should upgrade for my 100% no lagging performance and i know my processor sucks but i think it can still handle so plz tell me how much ram i should upgrade and i also want to get vista home premuim x64

arges86 is right. you can only have a max of 2gb of DDR2 (533mhz) installed. So to answer your question...2gb is what you want to purchase.

thanx dudes but i hav one more problem if i stay with XP for gaming wat about directx 10 its of no use how will i use my graphic card full power if i cant use directx so i think vista is a must for gaming right so should i upgrade to vista for direct x 10?

Unfortunately yes. I hear about some hacks that somehow allow dx10 effects in crysis with xp byt thats most likely a lot of bologne. Just bear in mind that if you go with vista and 2gb of ram your games will suffer.

so i am out of luck :( is there a big difference between dx9 and dx10? will this affect my graphic card performance will i still be able to play crysis and all with awesome graphics in dx9 and is it ok if i upgrade to xp pro x64 will that increase my gaming performance well i hav very old core 2 duo processor(E4300 3.2) but its ok right for gaming and my motherboard also cant support quad core or any higer core 2 duo so still can i game in this pc?

Yes and No, if there is big difference then your computer would not even handle new directx but there is little difference so it won't affect your performace.
