Stock cooling is all you need if not overclocking.

If you are not going to be overclocking the cpu, then the stock cpu heatsink and fan that come with the Intel cpu should be okay. That is assuming you have or are going to purchase a retail version of the cpu.

I noticed that you intend to use three 9600GT video cards. If you are going to be doing something intensive that might increase cpu temperature, then you can add a third party cpu heatsink.

Here is a link to a very good web site with a lot of useful information about cpu heatsinks that will help you make an informed decision:

http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm

You can use the Google embedded search feature at the web site to find more information about heatsinks for specific cpu sockets.

BTW - Which pc case will you be using?

15 hours full load or idle most of the time?

full load: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus
idle: stock cooler will be just fine

thanks for your reply

i am confused between HAF 922 AND CM690 II Advanced

as i am located in india where we have far more air dust than compared to Europe

do'nt you feel that larger fans in HAF 922 will suck in more air and dust when compared to CM690 II

ya i think full load

can you tell me if the weight of the cpu cooler like Hyper 212 or a similar cooler does put any vertical load on the motherboard given the fact that the cooler is always perpendicular to the board like this _I

Yes, they do.

However, many peoples including me are with much heavier coolers and have no problems at all. Thus, you will be fine too.

what do you think about the Hyper N520 when compared to Hyper 212 Plus

N520 is 20 mm less in height than 212 Plus

wo'nt N520 put less perpendicular weight on the motherboard ?

please advise if given the less height i can go for N520 or not ?

N520 is a good cooler too.

Don't worry about the pressure applied on the MB and get whichever is cheaper!

I'd want something quiet... even if stock were good enough, I'd still want something that made less noise.

would you suggest to place the mid tower case horizontally on the desk as a solution to that

can i keep my mid tower horizontally so that the cpu cooler is vertical like this to the motherboard _I_

1. That's what you do with HTPC case and so I don't see why not with mid tower.

2.Yes, absolutely.

To have minimal noise and minimal stress on your MB, get a bottle of good cooling liquid and Corsair H50 water cooler which put minimal stress on the MB.

I'd suggest a read over at...

http://www.frostytech.com/

Get a cooler that cools better than stock and doesn't make a lot of noise. You have plenty of choices to fit any application.
