Memory/FSB performance?

Could someone please tell me how much of a performance issue (degrad in performance) I would see (if any) if I were to purchase a computer that has 1067 MHz FSB and 800 MHz on the memory? How would my performance change between 3 Meg of cache on the processor compared to 6 Meg of cache on the processor with the same FSB and memory speeds given above?

Thank you!

FSB of 1066 is really 266MHz Quad Pumped or whatever idiotic name its called, so DDR2-800 (400Mhz x2) has actually a bit of headroom over your FSB. As for cache, google "3mb vs 6mb cache" and you get bunch of results where same question is already answered.

Very little difference with some variations depending on what program you're running, and what else the computer is also doing (background tasks, multi-tasking, etc). Usually the 3MB vs 6MB cache difference is not a limiting factor.
(E7200=3MB E8500=6MB)

Thanks guys!

I have another question. The processor I am considering is a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9400 2.53GHz, 6M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB. Why is my FSB really 266 when Dell says it's 1066? How do you determine the actual FSB speed? What are the factors? Also, how much head room would I acually have, 133 or 533 or something wlse? Also, would this "head room" (faster memory speed than FSB) cause a degrad in performance? If so, how much? I wiil likely be doing a buch of multitasking on the box (Excel, graphics, DB's, email, web browsing, etc, etc). Would the 6MB cache over the 3MB cache be an advantage? Any other suggestions?

I'm also considering an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8400 (2.26GHz, 3M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) instead, which would be better?

Thanks

Dell isnt lying, 266x4 =1066 (quad pumped again, data is transmitted 4 times per clock cycle). Guess from marketing point of view 1066 looks better than 266x4.

Where are you getting the fact that the data is quad pumped? From the 2 Duo or am I missing something here. Sorry for all of the questions, I am fairly new to this aspect of computers.

Its common knowledge. I believe it originates from intel chipset specifications. Btw: did you know that your ddr2 800 memory doesnt run at 800 but 400Mhz?
