Ok so i have an AMD Athlon XP 1600+ Cpu, I went into bios and chnaged the clock frequency from 133/133 to 160/133 and then i saved to cmos. Right after that the computer wont post. The fans turn on and the lights but no beeps and nothing to confirm posting. I tried removing the cmos battery twice and left it for a good 7 minutes and same problem. I have the same mobo as a spare should i replace it or is the cpu completly fried? I didnt smell anything tho.

removing the battery is not how you clear the cmos....
there should be a jumper on the board that is labled cmos rst or cmos reset
move the jumper to the other setting...
boot up...
shut down and move the jumper back to the original setting...
your cmos is cleared!
