I am having problems with my CM Hyper 212 and phenomII955 @3.6 at first I was getting 39-40C idle and 55-56c load I changed the fan and now I am getting 33C idle and 50C Load from my phenomII955 @3.6 (can do a screen shot if you like). I even took the cooler out and re-installed it....thinking time to get a better cooler what do you all think?....and do you all have any suggestions for one.

I have the Hyper 212+ also and those temps are about right, what is your ambient temperature and what sorta temps were you expecting exactly? If you're looking for an extra kick in cooling you might want to add another fan in a push/pull setup.

you may not get much better than that on true fan cooling.. adding another fan to the heatsink may drop the temps 2-4c.

If this helps, im running the Corsair H50 Water Cooling Unit on my Phenom II 965 at 3.8Ghz. I have two Scythe Kaze 1900RPM fans on the radiator Sucking Out, and im running a 32c Idle and 44c max 100% load after 8 hours of prime95.

The H50 retailed about $79.99 and the two fans are about $10/ea. I mean it is not a "True" water cooling unit as it is self contained and no maintanance involved, but it does the job. Definatly a great alternative to standard Fan+HeatSink setup and much more effective.

He CAN get better temps regardless ;)  , I have a Titan Fenir paired with an x4 B50 and at 3.8Ghz my CPU idles at 27c and tops out at 43c. The key to obtain low temps is :

1. Ambient
2. Cable management
3. Overall airflow (intake vs. exhaust air pressure)
4. Last but not least, "proper pasting and seating of the cooler"

So you spent 100.00$ to achieve those results, I spent 60.00$ ;)

Not sure where you got the "much more effective" from.... just FYI :

Yes I agree.. all depends on airflow pretty much.. my case only has one intake then the radiator for h50 wth the two fans on it. So I don't have much airflow.. and I'm still achieving low temps

You are achieving those temps because the H50 is a good cooler, better than most sinks ;)  , in the end it is just a matter of preference :)

Now what i do love about the H50 is the footprint, you can work on the insides of your case with ease...

The CM Hyper 212+ is a strong contender. And for really cheap too.

http://ncix.com/products/?sku=41337&vpn=RR-B10-212P-GP&...

Just installed one on a buddies Q9550 for his bday. Stock he's running about 35-38 idle, and about 53-56 prime small fft for core temps. His ambient temp is fairly high. At my place he idled at 30-33, and primed at 48-51. Lots of room for overclocking :)  Done with the stock fan that comes with the CM 212+ It comes with a spare clip to add anther fan.

I am using a CM storm sniper for my case.....I am not to comfortable with the temps I have now so I have basically narrowed it down to these 2 coolers...which do you all think is best. I know there is charts and that and I have been looking but each one I have looked at rank each cooler in different spots with different temps....

Both coolers are superb, it all comes down to how much you are willing to spend ;)

I just sent you a PM ;)  , anyways you will not see a drop in temps when comparing the noctua/TR to the 212+, maybe a few degrees but nothing spectacular. You might need to troubleshoot/re-paste/re-seat etc..

The 212+ compares to my cooler, I am gettin around 29/30c idle - 44/45c LOAD at 4Ghz

What paste are you using?

The OEM paste that comes with the 212+ is not bad, but you can get better =)

Everyone who has high temps with an aftermarket cooler needs to take a serious look at there case flow. I'm running a 955 @ 4Ghz on the stock cooler and idle's are in the mid 30's. Why so great? Because i'm running it in a case with awesome airflow

mid 30's on stock cooling? It must be snowing in your room

New temps (ambient @ 23c) 4.1Ghz w/ Titan Fenir :
