I want to buy a CM Hyper 212+ cooler for my Gigabyte AM2+ motherboard, and i want to know if i will lose warranty by removing the "stock-orange-mounting plate" found on the board (not sure if i named it right).

Have anybody tried to successfully RMA a MB after taking the original mounting plate out?

As long as you keep the stock mounting plate and change it back to the stock plate once you RMA, it should be fine. The only thing that will void warranty regarding this issue is if you damage your mobo while replacing the mounting plate. My advice is to take things slow if it's your first time to prevent voiding your warranty.
