First thing first what is your set-up? [more details the better]
What resolution do you play at?
Specifically speaking, which MMO's do you play?
Once you answer these questions it is easier to tell you which one is better for you, w/o them I could tell you go for one or the other, but I doubt that would be fair to you.
Agreed. I have heard WoW has problems with crossfire/SLI set up, so if your playing WoW, I would count any of that out.
Also, what are you looking to spend, on top of the last 3 questions.
TBH, no MMO's have really challenged Gfx cards except for AoC, Vanguard and WAR, eq2 is more of a CPU whore. In all honestly no one is really playing any of those games. So really need to know waht your playing. If you talking about WoW, I use a 4850, and I am normally running 2 instances of the game at once, with no problem.
Which ever is cheaper really. The two give mix and match results on games and you can't really make a firm decision on which one's better as its situational at best.
From what I saw, their performance for WoW is pretty much the same. So yeah, grab which ever's cheaper, which I believe is the gtx 260 216....
dude WoW should be able to run on max on a 9500GT... lol. unless you're that weirdo with 8 screens or something running 8 characters at once... 9500/9600GT should suffice.
The 260 core 216 has the upper hand thanx to the new drivers. But seriously both those cards are an overkill for that resolution unless you like +200fps average .

I was just going to add to this that If you want, you can easily get away with a 4850 at those resolutions. I play WoW at highest resoltion Max'd out. WARS graphics arnt to much better so it should be fine. Unless your do Raids all the time. If that is the case either of the above are pretty close. I beleive the 216 has the edge, but I beleive you can get the 4870 for a little cheaper. If you just looking at it cost wise.

i dont think the new drivers do anything in wow. if that is the only game ur interested in go for the 4850 or the 4830
In WAR, during scenarios and RvR battles the lag/graphic hiccups are bad on my current system (4400x2; 4gig; 8800GTS and Raptor HD) that my assumption is that the video is the culprit. Given that the cpu in this new system will be much better and the graphics will be better I'm just trying to make sure that the best match produces the best result for the expense. I'm not trying to be cheap but I don't feel the need to have the absolute top end on everything...especially if it isn't going to produce the return/value.
Well with the RvR maybe you should stick with the 4870, that way it should beable to handle everything. Just like in raids, so many people on the screen at once will cripple ya.
for WOW those cards are over kill but if your going to play a didffernt game than wow that acutrly needs something like crysis than yeah you would need one of those cards depending on waht resolution etc
