Ok the system is together

LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD sata
Western Digital Caviar 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s
ASUS P5Q Pro
LGA Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775
OCZ ATI CrossFire 4GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin
Antec Earthwatts EA650 650w PSU
Acer 22" Widescreen LCD

When i turned on the sys for the first time, I got a green and red light on front of case the red light stays on for about 20 sec then goes out and the green light stays on. I get nothing on the monitor and no beep alarms.

I'm using a PCI yes PCI (not agp, pci-e )geforce fx5500 for the build and am going to get a hd4870 shortly. Is it possible that the fx5500 will not work on the monitor that i have?

I don't think it is but can't really tell cause everything is so quiet in this sys. I can't even hear the cpu fan or the other 2 fans i have in the sys. I can see that all the fans are working. Also when you push the power button the sys comes on the goes off for about 5 sec then comes back on then the HDD red light comes on for about 2 seconds then blinks then stays on for about 20 sec after the blink then goes out leaving me with a solid green light. Sorry if im babbling on
The mem is OCZ p.s. there isn't an os on it yet

Try changing the RAM. Lately Asus has ram compatibility issues. Either that or its a faulty pci card?

It is possible that your mobo doesn't see the PCI fx5500 when trying to boot up.

i was thinking the same thing. So why would the system start then shut right back off then start up again and stays on when pressing the power button once

Did you remember to plug in both the 24-pin motherboard power connector and the 4/8-pin CPU power connector? The CPU power connector is in the lower left of this picture:

When you do get the motherboard to post, you will want to go into the BIOS and make sure the RAM timings and voltage are set to the manufacturers specs since OCZ RAM normally requires more than the standard 1.8v.

Yes both are pluged in

Running 4 sticks of RAM is hard on a motherboard. Have you tried booting with just one stick?

Sweet Thanks to everyone It was a bad stick of ram its working now with 2x1gb. I still have the prob at start up, I push the power button and it comes on then shuts off then about 5 sec later it comes on and starts the boot cycle and suggestions on this prob or is this how this mobo works

also in the reviews i've read for monitors they talk about dead or stuck pixles how do i find these. Is there software for this or is it a visual thing

You can tell. There will be a blue or white dot on hte screen. Sometimes you can "unstick" it.
