I have this silly question. Guys we all know hd4870x2's maximum resolution is 2560x1600. But if you crossfire two 4870x2's will the maximum resolution still remain the same? Will there be any change? Will you notice any change in the graphics right after you plug the vga cards in and log in to windows? What about the resolution?

I forgot to mention. Consider i have a huge lcd enough to support the biggest resolutions ever. If there's no limit for my monitor will the resolution change? Will it be more than 2560x1600 with two 4870x2's in crossfire?

The resolution will remain the same, it is a limitation of the dual link dvi outputs.

Oh sorry, my mistake, i should say that it is the limitation of the monitor(s)that decides the max res.

No, the highest possible resolution with Dual Link DVI @ 60Hz is 2560x1600.

It is technically possible, however, to run a dual link display at WQUXGA 3840x2400 @ 33Hz.
Currently, there are no WQUXGA monitors in production.
There are a very few monitors that support 2560x2048 and 3200x2048 resolutions.
They are generally used in the medical field and, likely, cost more than you make in several months.

As any monitor over 2560x1600 runs at lower than 60Hz, it would be unsuitable for gaming.
As the screens framerate is directly linked to the frequency of the signal, at 3840x2400 you would have a maximum displayable framerate of 33 FPS.

Damn no editing...

Forgot to add to the bottom of my post, adding more DVI links will not allow you to increase the resolution beyond 3840x2400.
