Hi Everyone,

I recently just got a new MSI N9800GT 512OC GeForce 9800 GT 512MB video card, upgrading from an eVGA GeForce 7950GT, and the performance gain is nowhere near what it seems it should be. In Team Fortress 2 for example, on a low ping server I am only averaging about 30 FPS in open areas, and in World of Warcraft I am only seeing 30-50 FPS in the Lich King expansion zones and 15-25fps in cities with a lot of stuttering.

Here are my current system specs:

Graphics Card: MSI N9800GT 512OC GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16
Motherboard: ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard, 1000mhz FSB
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core
RAM: 2GB CORSAIR XMS2 (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400), Cas Latency 4
Power Supply: RAIDMAX VOLCANO RX-630A 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V
HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
OS: Windows XP Pro 32bit SP3, DX 9

According to the reviews and benchmarks for this card my performance should be so much better than what I'm getting, can anyone see anything in my specs that would be bottlenecking it? Also my temps seem to be fine, I always keep the fan on and dont have "cool n quiet" enabled. I will also be upgrading to 4gb (2gb stick x2) of the same RAM tonight to see if that helps.

Thanks for any help, and let me know if you need any more info.

The additional RAM will help, but I don't think it's the root of the problem, especially in XP. Make sure Windows is fully updated, as well as the latest versions of all drivers. Have you overclocked anything? Have you done any stress testing?
