I went to fry's electronics to get an idea for my next computer. I asked the sales person about amd processors cause i was gonna get the phenom 7750 but he told me that amd processors are not true dual cores but single core processor with hyper-threading and the quad cores are dual cores with hyperthreading, and that intel are true dual cores and quad cores. I know this sounds like a realy retarded question but I got to know if this is true.

Nope. Not even close. The AMD ones are slower than the Intel, but they are definitely true duals and quads.
well thats kind of a blunt statement is it not? AMD is always slower than Intel?

Always? No, but they tend to be slower than similar priced and similar clocked core 2 duos for the most part, with the possible exception of the Phenom 2 CPUs, which are quite competitive with the Core 2 Quad Q9000 series.

You'll note that I stated "similarly priced and clocked Core 2 Duos"
Neither Pentium 4s nor Pentium Ds were even remotely close to Core 2 Duos in speed, and they don't fall under that product line. AMD was better in the past, but they aren't better right now for the most part.
