Hey guys,

I'm currently in the market for an overdue upgrade and when i say overdue i mean building from scratch new. I'm trying to decided between two different processors (w/ a mbd) and i need some help. I have a little over 1k to spend so I'm trying to decided between getting the:

AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Quad Core

or

Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core

i currently have an Antec 900 case with a 600watt psu, hdd, cdrom, and (1) Vision Tek Ati Radeon HD4870 (512) just waiting for something to be installed in it.

Now unfortunately im new to OC so its not much of a concern to me atm and the only thing this computer will be used for is World of Warcraft. I'm getting sick of the 3-5 fps lol.

Now i know i can get the:
AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Quad Core
Asus M3A79-T Deluxe AMD790FX Motherboard
Corsair Dual Channel XMS2 4096MB PC8500 DDR2 1066MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB)
Cooler Master Hyper Z600R CPU Fan 775/940/AM2/AM2+

for just at $700 w/ next day delivery.

or

I can get the:
Intel Core i7 920 Quad Core
Intel DX58SO LGA 1366 Motherboard
Corsair XMS3 Tri Channel 3GB PC10666 DDR3 Memory

for just under $800 w/ next day delivery.

Now i've read the head-to-head review on these two processors but im just not sure which to chose for the long haul.

Any suggestions or input would be greatful.

Either of the 2 setups will work fine, and perform similarly. I would use cheaper pc6400 memory for the amd setup; and 6 gb of ddr3 for the Intel setup; I've seen 6 gigs of ddr3 for around $150, and 4 gigs of ddr2 is $24 after rebate at zipzoomfly. I don't know how much you're spending for next day delivery, but consider buying from more than one vender for best prices.

Where is the cooler for the i7?? I would not use the Intel stock one...

But saying that - the AMD stock cooler is fine for running at stock speeds or a little more...
