Today I installed a brand new Geforce GTX 260 which was purchased from Newegg. After I got the card into the computer, I turned it on and updated the driver on my new video card. Then, I realize that my sound was extremely quiet, but the bass is still extremely loud, and there are really loud popping sounds. I tried installing a few different drivers for the sound card without success. I have also turned up all the dials in the sound properties. My sound card is a Soundblaster Audigy 4 and I've never had a single problem with it before this. I even tried taking the sound card out of its slot and cleaning the connector as well as spraying the slot on the motherboard. I can't think of anything else to do.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

if you feel comfortable disassembling your graphics card, do so and then coat all of the capacitors in nail-polish - this will eliminate any noise which they are making that the sound card is picking up as white noise (this is a known issue with non-solid state capacitors which regrettably the gt200's have)

Not every gtx260 owner will have this particular problem, but it is known to happen from time to time - i'd put money that this will solve it, but only attempt this if you're very comfortable working with your hardware.
