I am putting a computer together out of some parts I have on hand and I have the option of using a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L or an Abit IP35-Pro.

I am using a E8400 CPU and OCZ PC2 6400 RAM.

What motherboard is better? I might overclock later on down the road. I also will be dual booting between Xp Pro and Ubunto 64bit.

Since Abit is no longer in the MB business, the gigabyte MB would seem to be better...

I've been using Gigabyte boards for my builds recently and haven't had any issues. I hadn't heard about abit's departure from the market. The abit board looks to be higher end, with more SATA ports which might be pretty useful, and an extra 16x(4x electrical) PCI-E which is of questionable utility. Both boards have good reviews. I'd call it a toss up because although I'd prefer the higher end board, I don't have any experience with abit... and if they're now no longer in the business you'll probably have trouble getting support if you ever need it. Sorry if that wasn't terribly helpful.

+1.

@OP: Try to get a P45-UD3L or P45-UD3R or P45-UD3P (CrossFire)
