Upgrade Intel 640 to 960 on an Intel D865GSA MB?

I'm currently running an Intel D865GSA MB... I want to upgrade the CPU from a 640 (3.2 ghz) to a 960(3.6 ghz)...
Intels site say's the max is a 950 that I can run on my MB... Has anyone ever tried the 960 on this MB with stable success?
One other question...Have any of you compared the 640 to the 960? What type of performance am I lookin at? Or am I about to waste $130 on the 960...

You won't notice any difference in performance except in benchmarks. Save your money for a complete upgrade.

That would be the stupidest $130 "upgrade" ever.
