Xp reinstall stuck on logo screen

I have tried to reinstall xp on my laptop twice, each time it goes through the process and gets frozen at the black logo screen with the hour glass, saying "please wait..." help! what do i do?

How much time did you leave it on ?
Did you try rebooting with no CD inside ?
